This is it. Your own personal bilingual surf guide/instructor in Northern Baja is ready to show you how awesome surfing in Baja can be. Manny V has been hitting the waves in Baja since the '80s. You'll be led to empty line-ups that are perfect for learning or improving your surfing skills. He'll take you to the best local food spots which will include a delicious lobster dinner on Saturday night. Plus, Manny V's decades of surf photography skills will document your entire epic getaway. All the photos (web-sized) and HD videos will be yours at no additional cost! Pack your bags... Baja is waiting!
On your two-night or three-night Baja Weekender, your trip begins when the group meets in Imperial Beach at 8pm Friday night. We plan to arrive to our surf house one hour after meeting up. We will settle in, have a beer and hit the hay for an early morning surf. After two solid days of Baja awesome-ness, we return back to San Diego on Sunday (Monday 3-night) between 5pm-8pm or earlier (depending on surf conditions and border wait times). All Northern Baja surf trips require a minimum of 4 people and are capped at a maximum of 5 people.
You'll ride the beach and reef breaks anywhere between Rosarito Beach to the north and K-58 to the south. Three-night stays we will venture even further south of K58. The spots we surf are usually wide open. Yes, EMPTY. Manny V will use his years of experience in Baja to find those lonely breaks. There will be times when we'll have to surf with others but the ultimate goal is to find our own breaks.
Here’s a sample of a two-day and three-day surgical surf strike itinerary:
Meet in Imperial Beach at 8pm. Drive to Las Gaviotas about 35 minutes south of the border. Settle in.
Dawn patrol. Walk down to the surf and be in the water as soon as possible. We'll ride waves until everyone has had their fair share of fun. Beers, breakfast burritos, and snacks will be available before we surf. After your morning surf, we'll head for lunch to the infamous Tacho's Fish Tacos. After lunch, we'll check conditions and get to where it’s happening, and surf again. Each session will end with an ice-cold beer if you choose. At sunset, we'll clean up and head out for a delicious lobster dinner at the cool village of Puerto Nuevo. If you still have energy, we'll watch your video clips, go over tips to improve your surfing, and enjoy a cold one.
Wake up at dawn to hot tasty coffee and healthy fruit and we’re off to surf again. Be ready to ride. This is a large wave field with many different breaks. After our morning surf, we head back to our accommodations to pack up and check out no later than 11am. We'll head over to Charly's Place Taqueria for lunch and the Baja Weekender Awards. One of you will walk away with the one and only one Baja Weekender Surf Monkey Award. After amazing food and the fun award ceremony, we'll head for the border. Our goal is to be at the border by 1pm-2pm. A one to four-hour border wait is possible. To help get you through the wait, we watch surf flicks on the dvd player in the Baja Mobile. This will be the time to pick up that last-minute souvenir. You can chat it up and bargain with the border vendors.
*HIGH SEASON 3-Night Stays (March - October dates) will include Sunday Brunch, Sunday afternoon surf session, Wine Country (wine/cheese board), Monday breakfast, Monday lunch and a surf session Monday morning.

My ultimate goal with all my trips is to ensure a safe fun weekend. Yes, these are extreme times but with proper precautions taken from both parties, we can have the weekend we need for a recharge on life.
Baja Weekender trips are now in their 8th year and they are going strong. A full weekend in Baja is what it's all about. Surf, eat, sleep... without the worries. We have sick waves out from our base camp but these trips are about the adventure. We'll embark every day in search of those empty perfect waves as well. Stoked!
Check this out... in 2022, you now have a choice on accommodations! Las Gaviotas and Raul's will be your options. Las Gaviotas is situated in a private gated community with a few waves out front. Raul's will have you set up just steps from one of the favorite Baja Weekender waves. Both are clean and comfortable and within walking distance from the surf. That's a good thing.
