Baja Weekender - June 30 - Surf & Wine

Surf & Wine Weekend!!

Baja Weekenders base camp is located right at one of the most favorite surf spots... Secret Spot R. This surf break has a hint of San Onofre with a touch of San Elijo. Best part... we can walk to the break from our home for the weekend!

Plus, this weekend, we take Saturday afternoon and we head to wine country, Valle de Guadalupe. They've done a great job of creating an amazing region to enjoy quality wine, eat great food and offer epic views. The afternoon trip to the winery will include lunch, a couple of bottles of local wine and a couple of charcuterie boards for the table. Many of you asked for this and now it's here!

Here’s a sample of a two-day surf strike itinerary:

Friday
Your two-night Baja Weekender trip begins when the group meets in Imperial Beach at 1pm Friday. Our goal is to arrive at our surf house just in time to get in a sunset surf (conditions permitting, of course). Before crossing into Mexico, we stop to get our tourist cards at the immigration office right at the border. Then, we continue on southbound. Once we get to our home for the weekend, I'll go over some house items. After rooms have been divided up, it's GO time! We surf!

Now that we're frothing from a solid surf or a relaxing chill session, you'll clean up and head to one of Manny's favorite go-to taco spots just up the road from our house. Now, you've been primed for another solid day of surfing ahead!

Saturday - Is The Day :)
Dawn patrol. Coffee will be ready before the first person wakes up. Snacks and bananas will be available for those that like to eat before surfing. Walk down to the surf and be in the water as soon as possible. We'll ride waves until everyone has had their fair share of fun. Breakfast burritos or pancakes will be ordered from Freddy's Kitchen next door. After your morning surf, we'll dress up and head out for an amazing afternoon in Valle de Guadalupe.

We'll visit two wineries. Depending on the group, 1 or two bottles of wine and a charcuterie board will be provided at each of the two wineries. Lunch (an entree and a non-alcoholic drink) will be provided at the first winery. Guests are welcome to purchase more wine or food than what is provided. It's going to be a great afternoon in the Valle.

After our wine tour, we'll head straight to Puerto Nuevo for the infamous lobster dinner in Puerto Nuevo. Delicious is an understatement. Surf, wine, lobster... yes, please.

If you still have energy, we'll watch your photos and video clips, and go over tips to improve your surfing.

Sunday
Wake up at dawn to hot tasty coffee and healthy fruit and we’re off to surf again. This will be our last surf session on the trip. Manny will put in the order for chilaquiles with eggs, pancakes or breakfast burritos for you while you pack up. Once you're done packing, breakfast will be served. We will need to head back early and hit to the border to avoid those long lines. Manny has a system in place to get you across the border in less than an hour. Of course, things may come up but it's been pretty consistent for crossing under an hour. To make this happen, we have to pack up and leave at 10am. Our goal is to be across the border by 1pm-2pm. Totally jammed Sunday indeed. But definitely well worth it!

Finally, if you're feeling hungry while in the border wait, we can order up some churros, burritos or tacos to hold you over.

My ultimate goal with all my trips is to ensure a safe fun weekend. Please, by all means, email or call me back with any and all questions. I'm here for ya. Email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call 619-788-2456.
