Costa Rica Exploration is meant for the adventure surfer who is ready to hop in an off-road vehicle, drive away from the crowded breaks, and search for empty perfection. We will be flying into the region known for its many left-hand point breaks. Plus, we'll hitch a boat ride over to a right-hand wave when it's time to switch it up. Warm water waves, good food, and the ultimate surf expedition... if this is what you need in your life, then this trip is for you.

Of course, the goofy footers are going to be stoked but not to worry regular footers... we will be looking for rights as well. In fact, we're going to wait for the best day to take the ponga across the channel to surf the right-point break on the peninsula. No need to bring your wetsuits. The warm waters of the Pacific will flow over your body and bring all your senses to a special place on the planet. Real, raw, and epic adventures await.

Getting There
It's going to be a little bit of a mission to get to paradise. It's the most comfortable and fastest way to get to Pavones is via flying to Golfito Airport. A lot of flights originating in the US do not make it to San Jose airport in time for the connecting flight to Golfito. So you may have to stay the night near the airport the day before. This is a great Holiday Inn Express just minutes from the airport plus they have a shuttle to/from the airport:

Then, you'll return to the airport the next day and take an early flight to Golfito.

Going Back Home
If you can find a flight all the way home in the late afternoon from San Jose, Costa Rica, you should be able to make the Sunday departure a one-day flight back home.

Arriving: You're going to fly into Juan Santamaría International Airport. The airport code is SJO. To get an idea of pricing, use www.Kayak.com, www.Expedia.com and others. As soon as you make your flight plans, email them to me. Then, you'll want to book your connecting flights on Sansa Airlines via their website: https://www.flysansa.com/
*Please be aware that the connecting flight is on a propeller plane and will have limitations on the size of boards you can bring. I advise you to plan on renting boards in Pavones. Manny V has a shaper that has been great to us and delivering rental boards that were made for these particular waves.
